Banda ulta fasda janda jyon jyon karam kamanda ey;
Makrhi vangun jaal bana ke hathin jaan gawanda ey. Change marhe karam ne doven berhi lohe sone di; Gyaan de bajhon karam kamaana kirat hanera dhone di. Ikko karam ey sabh ton uttam hor sari kheh khani ey; Kahe avtar gyaan de bajhon pani vich madhani ey. |

Man gets more and more entangled as he goes on performing rites and rituals;
Like a spider, he himself weaves the cobweb, gets entrapped and loses his life. Good and bad rituals are two chains only, one made of gold and the other of iron; Performing rites and rituals without attaining divine knowledge amounts to groping in the dark. The noblest act (ritual) is to know God and all other acts are futile; Avtar says, without God-knowledge, whatever one does, amounts to chumming the water. |
Meaning
Here it is explained that, without God-knowledge, whatever one does, hold no relevance. Man gets more and more
tensed as he goes on performing rites and rituals; Like a spider, he himself weaves the cobweb, gets captured
and loses his life. Good and bad rituals are two chains only, one made of gold and the other of iron; Performing
rites and rituals without attaining divine knowledge leads to darkness. The noblest act (ritual) is to know God
and all other acts are useless.
